Who is Don Crites

Don Crites was born in Denver, Colorado in 1931. His father was a well known tile setter in Denver, Colorado and Don was raised in the construction business. Denver is located at the base of the Great Rocky Mountains and has a great deal of natural stone. Natural stone required footings or foundations, it was heavy and expensive.  Don realized there was a good market for a natural looking simulated stone which would eliminate the need for footings or foundations.

In 1961 Don Crites developed a product  that looked like natural  stone, was lighter in weight, easy to install and it could be made in any color to match any decor, applicable to any surface at an affordable cost.  In 1970 a marketing plan was implemented within the United States and he set up his first franchises in the United States.

In 1998 he had an opportunity to open a production outlet in Turkey to introduce his product to a new market.  He also started a molding operation in Turkey with Atlantis Inc. Don Crites' unique technique gives his stone the most natural looking simulated stone on the  market. Although he loves to visit and consult with his international  friends, Don is now semi-retired and enjoys his second love "firetrucks".
